Supply Chain Management

Against the backdrop of a highly interconnected global economy and rapidly evolving market demands, supply chain management has become a critical factor for maintaining corporate competitiveness and achieving sustainable development. UNIC continues to strengthen and refine supplier management in accordance with the requirements of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. The Company consistently communicates its policies and expectations regarding environmental protection, business integrity, human rights, and occupational health and safety to suppliers and contractors. Through joint risk management efforts, UNIC works collaboratively with its partners to fulfill social responsibility commitments.

Procurement Strategy / Procurement Policy

As an upstream industry participant, UNIC’s raw material procurement has traditionally relied on established domestic and international large-scale brand suppliers, many of whom have already implemented sustainability initiatives in response to the global ESG movement. In recent years, significant market changes and the successful promotion of UNIC’s proprietary brand strategy have led to increased diversification and depth within the Company’s supply chain, as well as growing demand from new markets and applications.

Raw materials constitute the Company’s primary procurement category. To enhance collaboration efficiency and flexibility among the Company, its suppliers, and customers; shorten new product development cycles; and reduce procurement costs, UNIC actively supports the development of local supply chains. Local sourcing represents the majority of procurement, and the Company continues to optimize its regional supply chain structure.

For major administrative procurement items—including packaging materials, pallets, and import/export customs clearance—UNIC will implement centralized supplier tendering procedures at headquarters starting in 2025. Regular bidding and price comparison processes will be conducted for suppliers serving UNIC’s global subsidiaries. Final supplier selection will be based on the most competitive pricing, while also considering company scale, resource capabilities, business collaboration, and service quality. This structured tendering mechanism is expected to further reduce overall procurement costs.

Localized Procurement

In 2024, locally sourced raw materials accounted for 70.8% of UNIC Group’s total raw material procurement. Going forward, the Group will continue to support local enterprises and encourage localization by international suppliers, thereby reducing lead times for material preparation and minimizing the environmental impact associated with long-distance transportation. These efforts also help lower production and logistics costs while mitigating geopolitical risks related to cross-border transportation.

In 2025, the Group aims to maintain local procurement at a level exceeding 70%, demonstrating tangible support for regional industries. In addition, to strengthen operational resilience and risk management, UNIC will conduct comprehensive reviews of critical raw materials and establish alternative sourcing options, enhancing competitiveness while ensuring consistent service quality for customers.

Supplier Profile

In 2024, UNIC collaborated with a total of 191 suppliers. Procurement categories include five major groups: raw materials, subcontractors, agents, modified additives, and packaging materials. Based on procurement value, criticality, and other criteria, key suppliers were identified.

“Key suppliers” are defined as suppliers ranking within the top 70% of procurement value, as well as those providing raw materials with critical recycling capabilities and required certifications. A total of 9 suppliers met these criteria, representing approximately 71% of the total procurement value.

In terms of total procurement expenditure in 2024, the three largest procurement categories were ABS, HIPS, and PC/ABS, accounting for 34.9%, 22.5%, and 16.4% of total procurement spending, respectively.

Supplier Evaluation and Audit

UNIC conducts supplier evaluations in accordance with its Supplier Management Procedure (Download). New suppliers introduced through business development and cooperation are subject to review and assessment; those meeting the required criteria are registered as qualified suppliers and incorporated into UNIC’s internal supplier management system.

Each year, the Supply Chain Management Department conducts annual evaluations and audits of major raw material suppliers. The 2024 evaluation program was completed as planned, with a total of eight suppliers assessed. Existing suppliers are subject to regular annual evaluations by category, based on four assessment dimensions: quality management, pricing, production technology, and delivery/service performance. Where necessary, UNIC’s procurement department may jointly conduct audits, guidance, and on-site observations together with the quality assurance or engineering departments.

Suppliers scoring 80 points or above are classified as qualified suppliers; those scoring 60–79 points are classified as conditionally qualified suppliers that are critical and non-substitutable; suppliers scoring below 60 points are classified as suppliers with whom transactions are temporarily suspended.

Evaluation Coverage and Corrective Actions

UNIC conducts regular evaluations to ensure that suppliers’ operational systems and product supply capabilities meet UNIC’s requirements. In 2024, UNIC maintained a 100% evaluation coverage rate.

If a supplier experiences three or more major abnormalities within a single month, the Materials Management Department will convene a task force to conduct unscheduled audits at the supplier’s site and provide assistance and guidance until the root cause of the quality issue is identified and clear corrective measures are implemented. No such incidents occurred in 2024.

Supplier Code of Conduct

To ensure that employees of suppliers, contractors, and service providers working with UNIC operate in safe working environments, are treated with respect and dignity, fulfill environmental responsibilities in business operations, and adhere to ethical standards, while promoting environmental protection and business ethics in line with ESG sustainability standards, UNIC has established a Supplier Code of Conduct (Download).

UNIC requires its supply chain partners not only to understand the Company’s sustainability and corporate social responsibility policies, but also to comply with this Code, applicable laws, and regulations of the countries and regions in which they operate. UNIC further encourages suppliers to require their downstream supply chains to acknowledge and implement this Code. Compliance with the Supplier Code of Conduct is one of the key considerations in UNIC’s procurement decision-making.
